Default B16 Tranny?

I want to go all engine setup with no turbo. I was told that a B16 Cable Transmission is one of the best to start with, is this right? I am driving a '91 Integra RS sedan completely stock.

It will have very short gears increasing acceleration, just prepared for high rpm cruisng.

Yup thats pretty much the only drawback... That and its hard to find a jdm B16 cable tranny thats not grinding. It'll make a huge difference though, more than i/h/e/highflow cat/lightened flywheel/race clutch combined even

i have a 97 ls and i just blew up my tranny and i put a gsr tranny in there and its a good move to do but on the highway it sits in high rpm but its worth it. you should try some nitrous with it that would be siiiick

Is this one of the best transmissions to get if I plan to go all out engine?

pretty much. the '92-'93 GSR cable tranny is even shorter, but the B16 cable tranny is almost as short and much easier to find.

your transmission will not increase torque output in any way at any time, and therefore will neither increase power output (disclaimer: unless your current transmission REALLY is busted up). however, when you shift up a gear, the engine speed you land in the new gear will be higher, and for the vast majority of hondas, this fact increases acceleration with a shorter transmission, such as the B16's transmission.

Which is better getting a new tranny or an engine swap? Which of each is good and cheap? I want to build an all engine integra.

if you have the money, get a gsr engine. if not, build your LS engine. almost as good as GSR, but cheaper. if you don't have at least a couple grand to shell out for GSR, just start building your LS and get a shorter tranny and swap your LS 5th gear in. try searching for TONS of LS vs GSR stuff. you'll find more information than you can read in a lifetime. just pick a few that sound good and start reading and you'll learn what's best for you.
