Default Is This Normal for a sohc 1.5L?

yes, me again...i just changed my plugs to Bosch Platinum 4...did a full tune up, and made sure every thing on my car was runnin good..i got a d15b7 from a 93 civic dx in my 90 crx hf...i mated in to a tranny and ecu from a 91 crx si...but i'm still runnin the hf intake manifold...(i know...i know)..anyways, i took the filter out of the intake and rigged up a cold air with a thin filter element from hks utilizing the stock piping...i'm runnin open exhaust...the car, for some reason is making a pssssrrriiii sound when i rev over 3000, and it gets really loud when i redline it..sounds like a really big turbo spooling up...
the cars been checked out twice by different techs, and they say the cars runnin extremely good (motor only has 50k on it, with like new compression)...now when i'm at a stoplight race, and rev, fools won't run because they think i got a turbo...i tell em no, and we take off...i usually get most cars off the line (featherweight hf style) and pull on em til we get to 2nd gear, then as i'm revvin it up in 2nd they usually quit cause they think i got turbo and they'll lose...but most of these guys will blow my doors...any ideas on what the hell it is?

second, my cars seems different from most hf's i've encountered...i beat 88-91 civic si's all day...i beat 92-95 dx's, ex's, and 96+dx's and even hang with some ls integra's..my gears seem hilariously too long...in 1st, i get up to 40 mph..in 2nd
i get up to 80 mph...in 3rd, i get up to 115mph! in fourth (still pullin hard), i'm usually doing 120 plus on the odometer with the rpms at 4000 or so and climbing..is this normal? the guy who hooked me up on the transmission said he'd had one from a ef that he completely rebuilt and spent a lot of time on (he deals with a lot of sohc d series guys)...did i get a special tranny, or is this common among 88-91 d16's?

lastly...i read the factory honda book, and states that the redline on a d15b7 is 6100rpm...ok....i keep my engine fully tuned and change the oil (every 1500 miles) and plugs (every two months) and cap and rotor and wires religiously...i use only premium products from castrol, ngk, bosch, and good ole oem honda...i can pull hard to 6800 rpm....will this blow my motor? one guy said that honda builds some of the best, reliable, efficient motors available, and that revving to 7000 won't hurt every soft often..he said the 93 dx is basically a d16 from an 88-91 si and that their characteristics are very similar....is this right?

any help at all is greatly appreciated...

its ur intake sucking in air mine does that also and my friends to both d15s i dunno y its like a swirling right? and the car is so light is y ur winning i ran my d15 in my std at the track sunday with a crappy launch spun most of first i ran a 16.3 at 82 mph. the motor aint that bad but when the b18 is finished i will miss the d15 a little i think. as for the redline issue teh d15 should hold up i rev mine to about 7k at the track and about 6500 or 6800 the most on the street but dont pupoo poo ive reved it to like 7100 before screaming but it takes it like a champ just dont over do it.

Sounds like you got a 92-95 vx/cx tranny. the dx tranny should do about 100 in 3rd gear before it hits the revlimiter, which is...6800 rpms (and not 6100rpms).

when did honda change the rev limiter to under 7000? my crx goes all the way up to 7200 before hitting the rev limiter. my preludes all go up to anywhere from 7200 to 7500. i didn't think any of the honda's, especially the 90 & up models had a rev limiter under 7200.

and the rev limiter is there so that you don't over rev your engine. you can safely pull all the way to the rev limiter in the car without doing any damage to it. that is what it is for. in some cars, there is a loss of power as you get closer to the rev limiter, but you can still go that high safely.

7200 is the fuel cut off when u do that it cuts fuel leaning out the mixture that is a bad thing. so stay away from that 7200 fuel cutoff that is not a safe thing to do.

D16a6 motor has a redline of 7100rpms. d15b7 has a redline of 6800rpms.

Also, don't believe the factory tachs...they are inaccurate up that high.

thanks guys for your input...i was figuring that since i changed the ecu to a 91 crx si and tranny to a 91 si, the dx might not be able to handle the new redline...but yea, it does pull hard to about 6800 to 7000 rpm then the limiter bangs it down to 6000...i don't over do it...just every once in a while...again, thanks guys..
