what year/make/model gm should i pick one up from for my buddies b20/vtec turbo.....thanx

I dont know if thats a 3bar or not.. I have a friend that goes to the junkyards and get the 3bars but a few of them have been bad.. Why not spend the $60 for a brand new one..
