Default ProjectF4's Brush with death(not really but were glad your ok buddy)

ProjectF4 is in the hospital right now with what seems to be 4or5 broken right toes and/or Foot.

Basically him and I were going for a really sick ride on RT.2 in Mass(insane road BTW) Really nasty twisties.

He was leading since he was familiar with the area and I wasn't. He had his girl on the back. We made one lap with great success and it was really fun.

On the way back though I think he got too confident. He had his girl on the back and he was pulling away from me pretty quickly. I thought to myself that hes going way too fast if hes pullling on me with a passenger.

Well he went too hot into a sweeping left hand turn, hit a pot hole or some other obstruction in the road and went sliding into the guard rail.

Thankfully and skillfully he saved it and did not lay the bike down. I dont know how you did it but Im glad you did man.

He and his GF both had full gear on(she had icon chaps i think and he has icon kevlar reinforced camo jeans) They work well, no rash what so ever on either of their legs, but he wasnt wearing very good foot protection and looks like he broke his foot.

His gf was wearing sneakers and the guard rail burned a whole through them Sneakers are not appropriate for spiriting riding folks!

Im sure hell post pics of all this when he gets out. Just wanted to say Im glad your ok man

Please Be safe everyone

Glad to hear they came out of it with minimal injuries.

This is why I wear my riding boots every time I'm on the bike.

Bike has some deep gashes but nothing too bad. Could've been ALOT worse.

Good thing there was a guardrail then, right? What was on the other side?

Wow that sucks. Hope him and the old lady are ok. That is one thing I will never do, call me a wuss but when I have a passenger on the back I always take it easy. What you do with your own life is your decision but nobody has the right to make that decision for their passenger.

Too ironic about his foot sustaining the worst injury as I was stating in my posts about how crucial foot protection is. That is probably the most overlooked item of safety gear and I am sure Projectf4 would attest that it is one of the most vital parts of your riding gear.

Best of luck on a speedy recovery.

Good to hear that the ICON stuff held up well, as some concern was expressed over the effectiveness of the Kitty chaps in particular.

Thankfully he is ok and had the skills to keep a bad situation from getting much worse.

Also thankfully his girlfriend is ok, although I certainly wouldn't have been going that quickly with a female on the back.

well, back from the hospital, and eating some chinese food, it was an awsome ride, and it ended with a little bump..

2 broken toes, and they had to sew my big toenail back on...

i will get into more detail when i get to school and have a break tomrrow, I'll snap some pics tomrrow in the daylight, nothing too bad, i will be back on the bike this weekend hopefully, and i am totally sold on a pair of riding boots w/ some reinforcement...

i did have on heavy boot though...

thanks for all hte support guys, and ryan, thanks for the kind words, your the man...

and i want everyone to know i have one of the best gfs on the planet, she was cool thought the whole thing and totally with me 110%, im very lucky to have her...

cliff notes:

too hot into a corner + pothole + big confidence = broken toe and a scratched bike

my girl loves taking to the twisties, shes very very good at being in the hot seat, however, it was 100% my fault of going too hot into a corner, and there wasn't a mountain magoon, it was a cliff

A+ for icon gear...

and to clear the fallocies about the chaps not being that great... they were awsome sliding on a guardrail at 70+ - not even a burnhole, or anything.

KEEP IT AT YOUR LEVEL GUYS - no need to be out for a week or more like im going to be...

just thaking god my gf is ok, and my bike a

yeah, when i get home today im going to post some pics of the gear and whatnot.. im in class right now, should be up by 1:45 EST - and i don't have a great digi, but they will be ok...

the boots weren't bad at all, it was the impact at 70+, i don't think the best riding boots would have helped even... although i could be wrong.

im thinking i will be back on 2 wheels this weekend at some point. in a robin costume with Mag00n and his batman costume... and my girl and her wonderwoman costume (and gear of course)
