My Bare USDM YS1 GSR Cable Tranny 1992-1993: Begin Rebuild For Boost
First off i would like to state: 1992+ B Series Tranny Gears are all interchangeable. Get that off my chest first. And no, 1988-1991 B Series Tranny gears won't apply to these "big brother" trannies.
Ok i have this gsr cable casing that i need to rebuild and i need expert opinions. Please don't spread false info. If you would like to know how i got this transmission i will tell you, if not, my question is on the next paragraph. This transmission use to run in a light blue 1990 DB with a full b17 swap (i now have the DB) and the guy who owned it blew the differential to ***** and pieces...and so the owner of the tranny asks if anyone wants this tranny and my homeboy told me take him to go get something and i was like what...
. I told him what the hell he was getting, as i had no knowledge of what his intentions were. So anyways i take him to the guy who has the tranny and turns out he gives the cable gsr tranny to my home boy for free (may i add the cable gsr tranny is very similar to the Type R tranny excluding 98+ and LSD and i also well add that i got the DB for free too on a later date). I was like, cool interchangeability baby, ohh yeah. Yes i was jealous. Turns out he never messes with the tranny and neglects it
, dumbass. It is leftover at his cousins house for over a year... Clean up time, so now my homeboys cousin wants this **** out now and immediately 30 minutes later it's in my garage
. Heehee. Okay sad part...i take out the casing and see the FD is to *****
and the gears are all good
. I left the gears in a car i bought for parts then i had a junkyard come take the car...can u feel the climax coming
. I actually forgot to take the damn gears out, yikes! Bonk me people for i must be. But hold on...i know where they put the car at though and the gears are still there...but i still had some other gears in there too so i don't know which is which and that brings me to my burning question.
How the hell do i tell what kind of gear i have in my hands. I know there are 92-93 GSR Gears in there so how do i tell. I know u have to count the tooth on the gear but still if i count it i have nothing to cross reference it with? How do i tell if it is a GSR gear or something else (dont ask me what other gears i have in there i dont remember).
Also you dumbasses
will have to check out my tranny if it still is a good tranny to rebuild cause the FD stracthed the tranny wall and broke some stuff check out the pics
. Not to major i believe.

I also need opinions on what gears to put in there, if it is still good to rebuild. If i can get the GSR gears back heres what i will have to choose from to put in the YS1.
-92-93 GSR Gears Probably 98 Type R FD
-96 LS Gears Original FD
-95 GSR Gears Original FD
-99 SI Gears Original FD
This tranny will go into a turbo b16a2 crx project of mine so keep in mind that it will be turdbo'ed
. And all will be LSD, maybe
.
