Default Washington DC street race (SWC/GT)

Anyone know why they quit doing the DC event? Only reason I can think of is that the 2002 event produced a lot of wrecks and a lot of pissed off drivers.

it was because of complaints by the residents of the neighborhood where the race was held. mostly about the noise.

If you want to race between the same tire walls that that race used, enter the nasa race in june on the shenandoah circuit at summit point

That would require that one actually possess a NASA/SCCA license.

What a pisser. That race was a joy to spectate.

You can actually run a HPDE at Shenandoah, but those walls look mighty close. Awesome track though.

I agree it was a fun race to watch even on the telly. Summit is close to where I live, I definately plan to watch the HC races and the 12 hrs and hopefully get my first HPDE.

Better to catch the July NASA race weekend at Summit. It will be on the main track and it will be a points race for Honda Challenge.

The June NASA event on the Shenandoah is a non-points event for Honda Challenge (http://www.honda-challenge.com/racing/schedule.php is out of date). The June points race for Honda Challenge is at BeaveRun the same weekend. It will bring the Mid-West and East Coast H-C folks together.

For an entire day of racing with both tin tops and formula cars come to any MARRS weekend put on by the DC Region of the SCCA (same folks who put on the 12hr). You'll see nine different race groups on a Sunday (that's about six more than you'll see at Hyperfest).

Here's the schedule (on main Summit track unless otherwise noted):

MARRS 1: April 24th (that's a week from now)
MARRS 2 & 3 (at VIR): Mothers Day weekend (May 7 & 8)
MARRS 4: June 19th
MARRS 5: July 10th
MARRS 6 (at Watkins Glen): July 24th
MARRS 7: August 14
MARRS 8 & 9: Labor Day Weekend (Sept. 4 & 5)
MARRS 10: Oct. 10
