Default Do ZC engines and CRX Si transmissions go together?

This guy might sell me his si transmission, but he says it came off his zc engine. Which makes me think that maybe its not a crx civic tranny, cause i thought they couldnt go together

Yes they do. Pretty much any d series transmission will bolt to a d series block. Whether it mounts in the chassis is a different story. All L3 transmissions(Si, ZC, Dx, STD(4speed), HF, Ex) will work with any 88-91 civic/crx engine block as long as the clutch and flywheel match the transmission year.

i didnt know the flywheel had to match too.

What are the chances that a zc had an si tranny on it?

Well let me clarify. The 88 transmissions have a different number of input shaft splines and a 200mm clutch disc. Therefore you need an 88 flywheel and clutch to use the 88 trans.

The 89 transmissions use a 200mm disc but the input shaft splines are the same as the 90-91 transmissions.

The 90-91 transmissions use a 212mm disc and the same splined input shaft as the 89.

As you can see it is easier to just match the flywheel and clutch to the transmission.

It is very likely that an Si transmission would be on a zc if it was swapped here in North America. That is a very common swap to buy a zc longblock and use an Si transmission.
