The only bad thing, imo, about the 05s is the look. They have the most power, best technology (hell slipper clutch), and really are just impressive. If you like the look you have a great choice. They are rumored to keep up with the gixxer 750. Personally, if i got a new bike right now, the looks of the new 636 would drive me to the 10r, despite it being much more power then i need (or want)
I rode the 05 636 and I was pretty impressed...I've ridden the 04 GSXR600, GSXR1000, GSXR750, 600RR, 1000RR, R6, and yet to ride my friends R1....and the kawi compared to these bikes feels good and different....actually dangerously good and different...The bike feels really narrow and lightweight as if I can just toss it around from turn to turn at the canyons...I wasnt really able to mess with it because its my friends bike, and we've all heard stories....well, the windshield feels really low and you feel like the front end is really close...this is all compared to my gsxr.....Another thing is turning....I dont know if it was just me but the bike wants to lean over and counter steering seems to be alot more effortless on this bike...I give it a
...The only thing I didnt like about it was the stock exhaust and license plate holder...that **** is ugly...especially when you remove it...the stock can is just as ugly....

the 05 636 is SICK!!! according to my neighbor across the street which is a editor/writer for a motorcycle mag the 636 is THEE bike for 05, winner of the 05 600 shoot-out. Out performs and out handles the rest of the bikes...
was curious on the 636 does anyone know if they have to cut the fairings for the frame sliders like the cbrs, or do they already have mounts ready for them?
I'll take any left over Red/Orange ones thanks.
It's my favorite looking bike of '05 (out of the 600's).
But, I'd take just about any of them. But if they were all the same price, i'd choose the 636...

Too bad we don't get those turn signals in front
But some overseas plastics will take care of that.

"Those characteristics helped the Yamaha post the best lap time at the Streets, fully a half second quicker than the second placed Honda. And while it was fourth quickest at the big track, it came within a tenth of the second place Honda and third place Kawasaki, just four tenths off the winning suzuki. But more telling was the fact that our six testers, no fewer than five set their best time at the Streets on the Yamaha. If it's beginning to sound like we've got a winner, well, yes we do. As it did two years ago at California Speedway, the Yamaha stealthily went about its business, earning accolades in virtually every category and nary a complaint. It may be "just" a 600, but it's the best 600. And the best middleweight sportbike of 2005."

I really don't understand how a triumph 650 can run better times(by a lot) than a Duc 749. Are they that slow?
Also I stopped by the local Kawi dealer to ask about the 4K service on my bike. The 05's look so much better in person. I'd take a red or blue one.

First Place – Muscleman Gets Revenge
It's finally happened. After two years of picking the mighty ZX as my personal favorite supersport machine, everyone around here has finally started to get a clue. Or maybe it's actually because Kawasaki has endowed the new Ninja with the style, handling and suspension manners its killah motah has always deserved.
Perhaps it's fitting that Kawasaki earns the street supersport title this year. After all, it comes on the 20th anniversary of the 1985 ZX600R Ninja's debut, a bike that really kickstarted the class as it became the first of the super-sporty 600cc machines.
It also didn't hurt its ranking by being voted as the most stylish of this group. While it's true that this class puts an emphasis on performance, there is no doubt that many consumers make a choice based largely on appearance. The ZX's attractive bodywork and attention to detail is now second to none, and a measure of its success lies in the fact that it looks great even without all the decals that ubiquitously are slathered on Japanese sportbikes. It looks more expensive than it costs and is downright classy.
So now the ZX has class-leading style and composed handling to go with the mega motor that has always ruled this roost. Plus, it has a real gem in its slipper clutch that is a class exclusive. Yeah, some may say that it's really not a 600, so it doesn't really belong in this class. But as long as it's priced competitively with the 599cc machines, it's definitely a viable choice for street riders. We'll give our man at the top the final word.
