HELP!! Folding down TL's back seat????
how do u do it.. how does the back seat in a 99 TL fold down i gotta do it to get the suspension in... cant seem to figure out how to fold down the seat.. thanks
They don't fold down. You have to remove the seatback by unbolting it. It's secured by a bolt or hidden in the slot between the back edge of the seat cushion and the bottom edge of the seat back. Once that's unbolted you have to slide the whole thing straight up and it will release from some clips at the top. This will allow you to access the tops of the shocks.
I recall removing the rear cushion as well when I worked on my '02, but I' not sure that was necessary.

You must remove the bottom and back seat cushions.
First, stick your hand in between the bottom and back cushions, slightly to the left of the center arm rest. You will find a bolt. Unscrew the bolt, then lift up the bottom cushion from the front and slide it out forward.
Now at the bottom of the seatback, you will see 3 bolts; one on each side, and one in the middle. Take them all out, then lift up on the seatback to clear the hooks, and take it out forward. Then slide it out sideways to clear the seatbelts.
Now you will be able to see the top mount of the strut assemblies. Lift up on the rear dash cover, and unscrew the nuts (two for each strut assembly).
Now you can take out the strut assemblies, assuming you have the bolt in the lower control arm taken out.
Easy.
