Default a quick turbo poll...

ok im wondering what kind of turbo kits you all have (sry if this has be covered before) ok the car is a 96 hatchback and the motor is going to be a B16A2 or a B18. and i was wondering what kits are avalible for these motors. all i know is that edelbrock makes a kit for the B16A2 but what about a kit for the B18 motors?? so i need help, what turbo kit should i get for the B16 and what turbo kit should i get for the B18 (im still deciding on the motor thats why i listed both motors) so post up what motor you have and what kit you have. TIA

What I'd do if I was in your shoes would be to first concentrate on swapping in your new engine. And in the mean time read "Maximum Boost" and other turbo related books so you can piece together your own turbo kit. Alot of people on here do that. Hell, that's what I'm doing too.

You can piece together your own kit for around $1500 if you take your time looking for parts. I'd take your B18 block, mate it with your B16 head and use the B16 tranny. But hey, that's just me. Go to http://www.amazon.com and search for maximum boost by corky bell.

Search under LS/VTEC. That's what it's called.

I say assemble your own turbo kit. And also, like they said already, buy Maximum Boost from Barnes & Noble or somewhere. That is one of the better books I have ever purchased.

ive put together 2 turbo kits in the past year or so. the first one cost me just about 2300, and the second one cost 1-200 less than the first. i like putting together your own kit also for the aspect that im not stuck with an fmu. now i have a chip burner, uberdata and a wideband.

a year ago i had a greddy turbo kit on my d16y8 and i loved it...just make sure you dont make the financial mistake like i did when i blew all my money on the kit and didnt have extra money for parts to run it right, long story short i didnt have a boost controller or intercooler and i ran it up to like 12 pounds and blew the motor...idiot

Yeah thats the way im doing mine. Get one aspect of the car complete then start on the next one. I always seem to end up breaking that rule. Oh well. If you want rims you should buy mine.

i choose junkyard kits/HomeMadeTurbo's they are cheap, $$$ saving and well worth the money that can perform way better than 2-3k's of kits

I say homemade but not junkyard... I mean, you can build yourself a nice turbo kit without using old rusty junkyard parts...

That's what I would do, build a nice kit for cheap with the parts you want

if you have the money, get a kit and build on it.. as a newbie, I wouldn't try to put a diy kit together without some help.
