interchangable starters?
well, the starter bolts to the transmission housing, and all 88-91 d-series civic/crx use the same transmission housing, so any one from that range should work.
for proof, i have the starter off a b2 on my d16a6 with si tranny. if it doesn't work, it may have to be adjusted or shimmed, but i didn't have to.

yes any and all D starters will work. when mine went out i got a hella good deal on a b seares but it was too big;
so i bite the bullet and spent the $80 with core for a new D starter. sold the other on ebay and got $ 60 so my stater only cost $20
