I have a 02 WRX and been wondering about putting in a custom sunroof. Anybody know a good place to do it in the bay area 4o8? I heard some custom sunroof have leaks, rattle, and even effect the car handling. How much would a decent custom sunroof cost? Any input would be great!

 

basically you are cutting out structural support from your car. then depending on the type of sunroof you install, you are adding weight in the worst possible place. as far as leaks go it is all up to the installer. sliding ragtops look good in my opinion and you can get custom sizes. i believe they have motorized versions now. i have never liked the old school pop top sunroofs. they remind me of old school vans. just do some research and see what you like. make sure you want it. its kind of hard to remove if you hate it in a week.

 

I purchased my car with a custom webasto sunroof and i hate that thing. everytime i hit a bump that thing squeeks like no other. i really want to take it out.

 

an aftermarket sunroof will leak. it's not a question of if, but when.

factory sunroofs have a completly different roof panel put in at the factory. the edges are rolled in instead of just having a hole cut into it.

 

i agree most jobs are pretty bad but if its done by a respected professional it will be good. Why not take a sunroof from some car and put it on?
