HATCHBACK PROBLEMS!!HELP!!
I have a 1992 vx hatch with about 140,xxx miles on it and just the other day i was driving and all of a sudden i notice somethings wrong with my car. Than right when i take the car outa gear the rpms fall all the way to 0 and the car shuts off. And then when i try and start the car it wont but than i floor the gas and try and start it and it starts very rough. Than when the motor cools down the car starts fine but when its hot it starts all rough or just doesnt start. I have to keep reving the engine at stop lights, just wondering if any1 had an idea what could be going wrong. thx to any1.
Uh sounds like a fuel problem. like it's way too rich at opperating temps but still close enough to get the car started. could be a MAP sensor maybe? check and make sure your throttle body/ MAP sensor is clean. Could be an Oxygen sensor.
it runs good when the engine is cold so you know it isn't an ignition problem.
Any CEL's (check Engine Light)????

Sounds like it could be your IAC (intake air control) valve. I had a similar problem (car dying at stoplights), replaced the valve and it worked fine. The heat from the engine could be causing the valve to go whacko when the engine warms up, yet lets it operate fine when cool.

Ok so i found the service plug and i tried putting a lil peice of wire to connect the 2 wires but when i turn my car on no CEL's are getting thrown and the check engine light just stays on.
im still thinking its the IAC but im not sure ? if i dont connect those 2 wires right is the check engine light suppose to just stay on wen the cars ignition is turned to the on position but not started.?

i also had this type of problem wasn't throwing any codes but the check engine light was on i replaced my IAC (you can try just cleaning it too not sure what exactly to use to clean it) and after replacing it everything was back to normal, now she runs like a champ again, when this happened to me i was told it is a very typical honda thing the IAC's are very sensitive. good luck

I'm not sure on that model car, it is either on the bottom of the throttle body or the back of the IM. it will be kind of whitish cylinder held to eihter the throttle body or IM wiht two bolts. and either two or three wires coming to it (I know for D16Y8 it depends on transmission type. I think it may just be two wires for everything with the OBD1 cars)
If you don't have a Haynes i would suggest getting one, it will be able to go into more detail about location and what it looks like.
adn i know that the IACV would stop your car from being able to start, but did you not say that you were going down the road and it just cut off on you? I was saying that the IACV wouldn't make your car cut off while driving down the road at 55 MPH .

so, let me get this straight.... car runs fine when cold, but dies when it gets warm? no cel's? sounds like a bad coil or a possibly bad ignitor. check to see if you have spark when hot.

No ive had my car just shut off before from a bad dizzy, it wasnt like that. i wasnt driving 55mph i was just starting up going down streets in a neighborhood and i just felt something go wrong, by the time i got to a light my engine was already warm so when i took it outa gear and put it in neutral and just braked the rpm's just fell low and than died.

Car doesnt run fine anytime now, the engine gets warm and it automaticallly makes the rpms just fall all the way, And than everytime i try to start it, it will be a super rough start or it wont even start. The only thing that happens when its cold is tha it will start up the first time.

i hate it when people give bad advice. most ignition coils first signs of going bad is not working when the motor is warm.
