Oil around valve cover bolt & near dizzy side of head...
Quick question...I searched but couldn't find the answer...only the answer on how to fix it if I wish to...
Red is where oil is, green is where it isn't and shouldn't be anyway. Is it bad to find a VERY SLIGHT amount of oil around one of my valve cover bolts and on the dizzy-side of the engine (the oil here is sitting above where the tranny and engine meet, underneath the valve-cover area where the cam seats into the head)??? Both spots accumulate maybe a few drops worth of oil every 1,000 miles or so. Is this bad, or will it harm my motor to leave this unfixed? I figure since it's such a small amount now and then, it's nothing to be nervous of, but I wanna make sure. Thanks!

you probably just need a new valve cover gasket set. no need to really worry about it. as long as you don't run very low on oil you will not cause any damage to the engine if you let that go.....but you should have it replaced eventually.
the valve covers gasket set's usually include the gasket with all the seals you have pointed out there.
good luck

Yeah, new gaskets were what I was sort of hoping for
Anyone else verify non-VTEC's response? Thanks!

Yeah, valve cover gaskets, grommets, distributor o-ring, you'll be set. Don't worry about it though, it's not life or death for you or the car.
you sure the bolt holes arent stripped and cant tighten em down right, I got to go re tap my buddys car cuz his are stripped and leak oil around the same spots you got circled.

They shouldn't be. I mean anything's possible, but I doubt it. Thanks for all the help and giving me reassuring thoughts, everyone, lol
