Default Car wont start, possibly valves...help me out

So a couple months ago some of you saw my snapped t belt thread, well i figured out it snapped because of a chunk of metal that broke off the block. Anyway i pulled the head and the valves seemed to sit flush in the head, no major damage noticable-I put the head on with a new t belt set to 17 degrees and when i started it it turned over slowly, so i replaced the battery cause it was really old anyway and it still did it. So after about 2 weeks the car shut off but it would start back up, this happened twice until the car wouldnt start back up (i THINK i heard a thumping noise when it stopped, but nothing was visible from outside the motor)- when i cranked it the turning got slower and slower. So before i get into this again...do the valves seem like the problem?

Motor is JDM D15B P08 ECU with 98 ex tranny, plugs wires and water pump were replaced during swap, ive already ruled out distributor, alt, and starter.

TIA

knowing the belt snapped, i think you need to start with a compression test and a cylinder leakage test. one way to check of the valves are bent before you put the head back on, is to pour some solvent or gas or kerosene into the port with the cam out of it. if it is leaking profusely, they are bent. thats an easy to tell without taking it to a machine shop.
