Question about power door lock relays
I have a viper 791 alarm installed with power door locks but the power door locks dont have enough power to lock the doors. I went to radioshack and bought 2 relays. I dont know much about relays but on the box it says 30-amp auto relay SPST and it has 4 prongs. Will these relays give the door locks enough power?
No! All relays do is make or break a connection. They dont add power. The rating is to let you know how big a load you can switch without melting the relay. For example the relay for headlights only need to switch about 6 amps, so a relay rated for 10 amps is adequate, if you have 1 relay per light. If you use 1 relay for 2 lights then you need a relay rated for 20 amps. If your pl are oem then something is binding. If the pl are aftermarket they could be undersized.

Did the doorlocks ever work? If they are aftermarket, you will need 2- 20/30 amp SPDT relays, [most commonly used] to wire them go to http://www.the12volt.com scroll down to car security, click on doorlocks, scroll down to add actuator (s) click on diagram
