I ended up gettin low balled by a guy who sold me a 00 b16 tranny for $550 wit no reverse. Besides kickin his ***, what would be my next alternative? Should i just get the reverse gear rebuilt? Should i just buy another tranny? Should find a cheap b serious tranny with bad gears except for the reverse and interchange them? What would be the best and cheapest way to go about this?

 

if you know how to open it yourself, fix it. if not, new tranny. tranny work is expensive

 

Opening that tranny and working on it isnt all that hard, if you follow the book. It can definatly be intimidating. Buy a helms, crack it open, and figure out why you dont have reverse.

 

Should be a simple 5th-reverse gear synchro and synchro sleeve replacement. PM Dan GSR and see if he has time to do the job for you. I'd help you out for a copule cases of the dirty thirty, but I'm a lot further out than he is.
