They Tried To Take My R From Me...
Well, after 5+ years of trouble-free ownership it finally happened to me.
I woke up last night at 4am to the sound of my alarm wailing, this is not my car alarm but my home alarm system. I new someting was up and saw that the code was the motion sensor in the garage. I grab the nearest object that can be used as a weapon and dash out to the garage (it is a detached building). When I open the door and turn on the light I see nothing wrong, car is there and everything seems quite. So I go back to bed, but really can't sleep.
This morning I go out to investigate further and find this:

This is a small window in the garage that faces the alley behind my house. It looks like the tried prying the window open with a crowbar, and when thet didn't work they simply started smashing it in. As soon as that thing started moving the motion sensor tripped and the freakin loud house alarm scared them off. If it wasn't for that alarm my R would have silently disappeared into the night...
I have to believe that they were after the R, rather than just some random burglary. The car rarely leaves the garage - only when I'm heading to the track or for some brief moments here and there. I was out washing the car on Saturday and somebdy must have seen it...
Bastards.

No doubt. Glad to see it wasn't taken from you.
Time to look in to some iron gates for the windows, or maybe fill the window in with glass block.

Sorry to hear the news Jonathan, now you have to be more paranoid about the car. I haven't had any issues with my to this date in Texas either and I've owned the car for about 4 years now... :knocks on wood:
Man thats pretty desperate of them.. why don't they get an freaking job Rs aren't that expensive! Glad its ok though. One the few successful deterred theft stories???
After seeing all your pics lately I would have been crushed to hear that it got taken from you. Glad to hear their plans were foiled by an alarm. Theives suck so much *** it's not even funny. Sometimes I wish they do get caught in the act by an H-T member for a little Pulp Fiction action.
Keep her safe and continue to 'roll hard'

Or rig up a swinging plank with a bunch of foot long spikes attached to it so when they touch the window.....BAM!

I will defenitely look into bars. That is not wood over the window, but a sheet of steel. It has been re-attached using more secure means... they will not win.

Wow, this brings back painful memories. I'm glad to hear your alarm worked and saved your R. My advice is to prepare as if they're going to come back.
