Default New member, 1993 EG Hatch

My name is Corbin Welter, im from Tampa Florida, some of you might know my brother who owned a white type r who also was a member of this forum, i think his screen name was typer892 or somethin like that. I just got this civic from my brother yesterday after driving it from Gainsville (his house) to tampa and man that 2 hour drive was pretty fun with no radio or power steering, and im used to driving a 98 camaro. Now to the civic, its a 1993 hatchback, i belive also called a EG? its a dark grey not sure the name of the color, and i believe the engine is a d15b8 with no vtec? Im fairly new the hondas, but not to cars at all, my father has been in the car business for 30+ years and his first dealership was a honda dealership i originally planned on turning the civic into a drag car once i learn some more about them, and swap in a b18c5, i have a set of yokohama a032r's in my garage so i might get a set of rota's to put them on because they do no good just sitting there,
heres some pictures please excuss the dirtyness i havnt cleaned it up yet

my future mod list-
new paint job
b18c5 swap
rota slipstreams
gut all interior
gsr cluster swap

its an eh2 if it was manufactured in canada, but nonetheless it is commonly referred to as an EG

your ground terminal looks like it needs to be changed.

somebody told me they were all made in Canada. were they talking out their ***?

Corbin: if you're gonna build a drag car, you might not wanna bother with the B18C5. If you're gonna be building the motor up internally, it probably would be a waste of money to start with a type argh motor.

***I didn't move or lock the topic because he cannot post in the Cosmetic forum yet, and he is talking tech***

You'll love the B18C5 in your hatch - I know I love mine. the guy telling you not to get one if it's a drag car is right though - you end up ruining the best parts of the B18C5 if you tear it down to rebuild it.

If you want a drag car I'd get a B18C1 and build the **** out of it, or if your budget allows get a K series swap. If you're on a tighter budget, get an H22A and do i/h/e, cam gears, mild cams, and good engine management and you won't be dissappointed.

It looks like you'll be having some "fun" when doing major jobs on that car because of rusted bolts. Always allow much extra time when doing "simple" stuff like suspension work, because rusted bolts make things take a lot longer.

I'd also invest in a zizz wheel/cutting tool for rusted/seized bolts, especially in the lower control arm areas.

It's fun seeing unmolested stock Civic hatches - won't be too long before it's swapped, lowered, etc. etc.

Have fun! And don't forget to search!

cleaned up engine bay and rust spots
painted wheels black
painted ugly chrome radio antenna black

thanks for the Welcome everyone

i havnt decided yet if i do get a b18c5 if im going to rip it apart, i would love the just leave it stock and slap a turbo on it, then lower the CR a little, and gut the car completely

should be able to hit low 13s then?

if you are wanting to go FI, then do not get an ITR motor. It is made for n/a, I have seen very few of them ever be turbo'd. If you are looking to go FI, drop in a GSR motor and boost that. Or if you are on a budget like me, then you can build a single cam motor like the z6 and boost that. Welcome to H-T and good luck.

EDIT: and you can hit low to mid 13's on with an ITR swapped hatch with just mild bolt-ons. Tom(B18C-EH2) has a ITR swapped cx and hit 12.9....correct me if I am wrong Tom??

i still drive the camaro, im just getting sick of the gas mileage and im only 17, its hard enough to pay for the car and then gas every week. Im not exactly sure if im going FI thats why i considered the c5, and if i did decide to i can just fix up the c5 to handle the turbo. low 13s to mid 12 is all i really wanted
