'92 Honda Prelude Si - H23A Timing Belt Change Interval?
***Searched: No Useful Information Found***
Hey Everyone,
I bought a used '92 Honda Prelude Si, and I am getting different stories about when the timing belt needs to be changed. I've heard as early as 60,000 and as high up as 100,000... The car has 88,000 and, being used, it did not come with an Owner's Manual! I'd rather not snap my belt, and bend half of my valves...
- When does Honda say the H23A1 timing belt should be changed?
- What is the highest mileage this belt can withstand, assuming the car was not abused?
Secondly, my girlfriend is looking for '96-'00 Honda Civc EX... And it would be best not to spend $8,000 for the car, only to dump another $500 into it 3 weeks later for the belt.
You know? Again, I'm getting different figures for when the D16Y8 timing belt should be changed...

Thank you for your time...
Peace

I just bought one myself and that's the first thing I did was change the timing belt - water pump while you're at it. Too much stuff to go wrong if it happens to go out! I would seriously consider doing it to any new-to-you car, unless seller has proof of it being done recently.
Besides that, where the hell did you find a '92 Prelude with only 88,000 miles!?

Every 6 years or every 90K miles.
If you need a new H23 Genuine Honda timing belt, let me know. I have one available.

I also just purchased a 1993 h23 si with 149,500 on it and just purchased the timing belt replacement kit which, includes water pump, tensioners, belt etc.... from prostreet online for 204.00 shipped excellent price I shopped around, the original owner changed the T. belt at 65,000 so I figured better safe then sorry..
just my .02 cents
