GC Question
So I got my new coilovers today but I think I got shipped the wrong stuff. The part # on two of the springs is 0700.250.0400. These are a 7" long 2.5" id 400# spring, right? Those are what I wanted for the front. The rear springs part number says GC180.64.75, and the spring diameter is wider in the middle. I wanted 450# springs for the rear, is that what I got?
Also, I'm running shortened SPSS3 Koni's. What type of adapter should have come with the coilovers? I got the sleeves, perches, insulators, o-rings, and a split urethane sleeve for each corner. Should I have anything else? I was hoping to start the install tonight but I've got a feeling I received the wrong stuff. Anyone know? Thanks!

The rear springs sound like the old style. I can't remember how to read the spring rates, but I would think its probably the right parts. Most likely the spring perche(red part) will just slip onto the koni snap ring. You will get rid of the spring perches on the shock if you are using them right now. I didn't use any o-rings with my install.
Sounds to me like some of their "street" springs made it into your stuff. The front springs are right...the numbers go inches.diameter.rate. Their street stuff from what I understand uses different nomenclature...someone might know what GC180.64.75 means, but I don't.
All I know on the other question is that the only thing I needed was an adapter thing that allowed the coilover sleeve to fit properly on the Koni circlip/spring perch thing. I did mine many years ago, so YMMV, possibly by a lot.

my 00 civic(same as your gsr karl) needed the clip rings, but on my 89 the sleeves fit perfect right over the snap ring on the konis. I'm not sure if all the 88-91 civic applications are the same though.
if the sleeve is rather tight on the shock body it will engage the circlip that comes on the koni's. i have a feeling that is not what you got since you mention it coming with the urethane split sleeve and o-rings. sounds like you got shipped the standard sleeve and not the sleeve that was made to fit on koni's. (they usually either come with a small sleeve diameter or a black aluminum adapter. either method engages the small circlip in the groove on the koni shock body) call them back and get the right stuff.
as far as the springs go, the FAQ has a link or a section (i forget which) on how to read the metric nomenclature.

Yeah, I just tried a test fit on the rear and they are not the right sleeves. They are actually the same size as the no name ebay coilovers I've been running. If I wanted to I could make them work because I had a machine shop fabricate a perch that captured the Koni circlip and also supported and centered the perch. Since that kind of defeats the purpose of buying the GC's though I'll probably get in touch with them tomorrow. I was really hoping to have them on the car for the Atlanta ProSolo this weekend when I ordered them a few weeks ago, not looking good now
Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the info.
The GC sleeves are red and for konis they will have a black inner ring pressed into the bottom that sits perfectly onto the snap ring. Sounds like you did get the wrong one. bummer.
And on the spring rate question.... that spring is in metric unit. The first 2 numbers are metric free length (180 mm = 7 inch and 64 mm = 2.5 inch). The 3rd number is kg/cm and the conversion is 1 kg/cm to 5.6 lb/in..... you got 420 lb/in rear springs. That should be just ok.
Hope that helps.
