AEM short ram: Loud on the high way?
From what I hear, short ram intakes you only really hear when you're over 3k RPM, at which time it makes a pretty deep nice sound. Now, I'm assuming this also has to do largely with the amount of throttle pressure.
so what I'm wondering, when I'm on the high way in 5th gear doing 75-80mph, I'm already over 3k RPM; and this is where I usually have cruise locked in.
Is it going to be terrible loud? or since there isn't much throttle being given is it pretty quiet?
thanks

i'll let you know when i get the AEM short ram air intake i just ordered installed. If its too loud for me, then it will be too loud for you.
yea i have a CAI and my friend has a short ram.. his is louder like when ecceleration from stop and go but once your one the freeway at a contstant speed the sound isnt loud.
Its only loud when your speed varies ie. city driving. On the highway you barely notice since your going the same speed for the most part....
.. liek everyone else is saying. its only load when you have a load on your engine. most of the times u wont hear it unless youre accelerating, but if you're maintaining over 4500, chances are you'll hear the intake, but your engine should be starting to roar anyway ;D
you can't hear mine at all until i step on the gas. it's kind of funny. i'll be cruising along all silent like, and then i step on it and it makes a whole bunch of noise. fun to scare pedestrians with.
