you need to use the main caps that come with the head... honda drills them straight through for the cams, so all journals are the same for those cams... but it varies every head.. so if you dont have the main caps from that head... its junk

Honda's are not cracked caps right? So you could get some other mains and then go to a machine shop and have them resized and matched and then you would just have to get thicker bearings. Call your local machine shop and ask them if they can do it and how much with new bearings. If they are cracked caps then you s.o.l. but I don't think they would be. I know ford sometimes uses them on their rod's (another reason never to own a ford) but I never really messed with the Honda's internals before. You would have to call a local machine shop and ask them because this seems like a topic that would just keep going round and round. Bearing journals can be resized and cut but remember you will have to get the correct bearings so get them straight through the machine shop so you don't mess up the motor putting in the wrong size ones.

For what you would pay, to have the new main caps calibrated to ur head, and bearings sized etc. u could pick up a head... Call around.. There a time a dozen..

I would call and ask, resized bearings are not going to cost more then regular bearings. Just the machine work, But if your building a motor anyways you need machine work done so It might be worth your while. Did you even call a shop and find out how much?
