Wiring Harness
Looking to switch out from an H23 to an H22 vtec. Does anyone know if the wiring harnesses are the same? Or will I have to pull the harness out and replace it? Thanks to all who participate in this site.
i have 1992 which was never wired for vtec which made every thing 10 times harder cause i had to wire it myself. and considering it was a auto harness cause i did a manual swap thats a pain also. good luck
I have been searching. I have found that mostly everything is the same but I have not seen anything on the vtec wiring harness that says it is different. And if it is what wires it would be.
Well.. the wiring harnesses are the same with exception of auto/manual stuff as said above and the vtec wires. Most Si's after 92 were prewired for vtec and even some of the 92s were. You have to add two connectors though. One is a green/yellow wire connector that runs straight to your VTEC solenoid. The other runs just below that and has a light blue and blakc wire coming out of it. This is your VTEC oil pressure wire. The black wire is a ground and can be grounded to the chassis and the other two wires have to go to the ECU. If its prewired for VTEC the two wires in question can be found on connectors by the fuse box in the engine bay. You will still have to splice or something, but it will save you the extra 2 minutes of running wires into the cabin and extra however long of findng the right pinout and adding two extra prongs to your connector...
Swapping an H22 into an h23-equipped car, you will need to add:
VTEC solenoid, (signal=Green/Yellow to ECU Pin A4 )
VTEC pressure (oil pressure), (signal=Lt blue to ECU Pin D6 )
VTEC pressure (oil pressure), (ground=Black/Red )
Swapping an H22 into an f22-equipped car, you will need to add:
The wires listed above AND. . .
Knock sensor, (signal=Red/Blue to ECU Pin D3)
IAB, (signal=Pink to ECU pin Pin A17 ), (power=Blk/Yellow to 12v+ switched power source (hot with key in "on" or "start")

don't some h23 harnesses come prewired for vtak?
edit: my reading skillz leave a bit of room for improvement

So what you are saying is that if it is prewired then all I have to do is change out the ECU and add the two connectors? By the way great detailed link SKDRCR. That really helped alot. Thanks.
What year is your Prelude?
You can splice the two connectors off of
the h22 harness that comes with the motor.
I'm not 100% sure on what exactly you do if it's
already prewired for vtec, but I'm sure someone
can tell you.
Try giving Andy D a pm, I believe his was pre-wired for vtec
when he did his swap.
