Chipped p28 on d16y8, running weird.
i just recently got my p28 chipped by kenji but i know the probelm i'm having is not that because it would do it when i ran the p28 when it was a virgin.
what happens is periodically when i'm at idle the car would drop rpms to the point of all most shutting down then jump rite back to the idle it was at. It would mostly do this when the engine was warm.
Also when i would start it say after overnight, the idle would be around 200-350 rpm and constantly cycling before it settled to a normal 800rpm idle.
I think it has to do with my obd-2 iacv maybe being different than an obd-1 iacv.
Anyone else have this sort of problem?
TIA

Are you using a conversion harness?
Have you tried using the *CORRECT* ECU for your motor.
Why people run the *WRONG* ECU on their stock motors is beyond me.
I know the answer to your problem, heres how you solve it:
Remove p28.
Install p2p.
Solved.

thanks for the replies. To replies above, I think i know which is the correct ecu to run. Obviously the obd2 p2p ecu can't be chipped thats why i'm running the p28 so it can be chipped.
tell all the turbo guys with d16y8's and uberdata to run a p2p because its " the correct ecu for the car"
and who said my car is stock?

You never said it wasnt. That might be a somewhat important part to mention.

exactly, there are tons of people with stock cars on this forum... also you'd be better off running uberdata and not getting an off the shelf chip which might not give you the maximum output of your "not stock" engine
