How To: Bling Bling your Interior - Goodbye faded Carpet
I'm in the process of redoing my interior... and the carpet is of course dirty and faded. Solution?
1) Remove Carpet

2) Pressure Wash Carpet... use only OEM Honda Pressure Washer of course. This one has 720cc injectors and AEM EMS management of course.

3) Dry Carpet at local laundry mat on LOW heat (won't melt the plastic coatings)unless you don't mind getting sand in the one you own. Let this dry in the sun for a few hours if it is still damp.
4) Buy Plasti-Kote Fabric Color ($5.49/can). I used 'ebony' because I likes to keep it real.

5) Evenly spray old carpet and let it dry. After is at bottom and before is at top. This is with only 1 coat. I plan on adding another and finishing up the other side.

Next week I'll be doing a tutorial on how to calculate ring-end gaps and which size is best suitable for your set-up and horsepower goals
I would have expected this type of thread by Shakes to be honest... haha.

I was thinking about doing this to my interior when I pulled it all out. I decided to keep it as its current color. I wish I painted it now.
I dyed my door panel carpet with Ritt. Turned out pretty good. It matches the black plastic panels now.
This past weekend I pulled my dash apart and polished the plastic. It looks brand new now.

I got a little carried away and did the rear seats as well. They were from that wrecked prelude I parted out a month ago... they were FADED as hell. I'm REALLY impressed with the results.
Rear seats - they almost had a purple hue to them before

Carpet... my old one vs the new 'painted' one

This paint makes the fabric a bit more 'stiffer' to the touch... basically not as soft. What you do to counter this is take a brush and go over the fabric once the paint is 100% dried. That puts it back to normal. I'm going to let these air dry for a few days before I throw it all back in... I don't feel like smelling the fumes.
I'll let you guys know how the durability of this is in a few weeks.

it looks good, but i have a feeling that the paint will come out as soon as it gets a bit wet. thus destroying your sequense club outfit when you and your sweaty lover get in the rice mobi..err.. car
I took a wet towel and went over the carpet.... the white towel remained white.
Like anyone can fit in the backseat of a prelude anyways...
If it doesn't work out as well as it's looking right now, I'll just dye everything black.

i agree...but the results seem well worth it. i am **** enough to try this and enjoy the results..especially on that upper rear seat cushion that has faded to no end. that spray looks like it's good to go on the speaker covers as well.
anyone ever try using a carpet extractor/steam cleaner ?

Me and a buddy did basically the same thing to his floor matts. Completely cleaned and dried, painted them with fabric spray paint. Came off in a few days thru regular wear and tear... sorry. Hope yours comes out better.
