I went with the type-s oversized, 144,xxx miles at the time. Get a new bore an hone job per FRM specs, and you'll be like new again.

Well that's not all that I did. I did a total rebuild, including some Crower stage II cams, springs, retainers, new rods (You need to use different rods for the Type-S pistons in a 93-96 VTEC motor), balanced crank with new bearings, etc., etc. I think with the VTEC controller, installation, and dyno time, I have about $3000 into it. The only thing I'd like to have is an SMSP header on top of what I have.

It's worth it to rebuild a H22 with type S pistons. Definatley go OS. It will cost you about $500 maybe a bit more depending on your location to have the block honed, crank balanced, etc. and assembly of the new pistons/rods. Type S pistons with rings go for about $300-350.

If you want brand new OEM rods, that will be another few hundred or if you find used ones you can get them balanced from the engine builder/machinist. Make sure you take it to someone who knows what they're doing, they'll tell you exactly what they need to do to make it work.
