Default Your brake pads and the dust??? got pics?

Out of curiosity...
What pads do you have in your caR right now and how bad is the dust? Got Pics?

I know Opie bitches about the Axxis Ultimates and his wheels...

But what about the rest of you guys and gals that use other types of brake pads?

I am getting the Spec VRs and wanted to know how bad they mess up the rims and the paint

thanks.

Spec vr's do dust, but it's not corrosive, even in the wet like the hawk blues are.

And don't daily drive on the VRs. They're fine for the drive to and from the track but they'll murder rotors like no tomorrow.

I'm using Cobalt GT-Sports.

They dust more than Axxis Ultimates do as far as my experience goes. But the dust really isn't very corrosive, so it doesn't bother me. I have found that brake dust sticks (is harder to clean off of) to the stock CW painted wheels, then it does to my SM-058's. Wierd

These pads are awesome on the track and for daily driving. I have had my set for about 20 months and I still have about 40% of the pad left. I have done 1 HPDE and a few Auto-X's on the pads and I drive 18-20,000 miles per year, as well as use the brakes well around town.

Lack of money right now prevents me from getting street pads... So I have to use them for a while on the street.

Good thing autozone rotors are so cheap

Gonna cost you more in the long run. Rotor wear + pad wear = teh hurt.

I think I have a set of stockers lying around. I think. Gonna need to sand them down since I ashed them a bit at Expo #3.

This is only for a month or two... after expo. I don't want to run such pads on the street if I don't have too, I'd rather use them on Track.
I prefer the Axxis Ultimates for DD.

Come check out my CW stock wheels. They are Gray. I wouldnt do it if you got blinging rims, VR's leave black small particles that are a pain in the *** to take off when washing the wheels.

BTW people can hear my brakes SINGING from a block away.

If you wax your wheels, it helps when cleaning the brake dust off.

cobl0rt gt-sports
dusty and noisey as f0k (esp on cold days)

this after ~40miles of city driving. Already a fine dust has settled and two weeks later, the wheels were almost flat black

I have Apexi A750 pads front and rear and they're not too bad but eat rotors...my rotors are wearing quicker than the pads. I'm fitting new front rotors pretty soon and have a set of axxis ultimates so i might fit them once the rotors have been broken in.

Thats the way it seems to me, when i got the car there was no wear on the rotors and the pads were new, the pads still have 80% meat left on them and the rotors now have a 1mm (possibly deeper) lip on them signifying they are pretty worn....so you figue it out

I tried a set of HAWK Black compound for a track day and was too lazy to take them off. They wore down in a week taking a brand new pair of rotors with them.

They turned my black wheels orange when the dust got wet from washing the car. They also left this in my driveway from washing the car:

My friends who drove with me said that brake dust was plainly visable flying out of the wheels when I applied the brakes.

I had to clay the side of the car because the brake dust stuck to the paint

They sure stopped great though!

Spec VR is what I have on the car right now. Not bad! The dust comes off.

Porterfield R4 is the devil. R4S isn't as bad.

Carbotech XP8/XP9 seems OK, too. Dusty but not corrosive or overly sticky.

Picutre with R4S being the last pad:
