Why is rim/fender/tire tuck so great ?
I've been flipping thru magazines for ages as well as HT and other sites and it seems that huge amounts of people like to see cars dropped so low that the tire is tucked inside the fender.
Cars that compete at shows also are setup like this, even if they see street use at nominal heights. Granted I've seen one or two cars that look good with some tuck... but IMO, overall, tuck looks shitty. Why do so many people like it ? It looks unfinished for the most part.
So what's the story ?

Why do some truck owners like to lift their trucks sky high? Why do people like huge oversized wheels on their cars/trucks? Some people just like it.

its just what you said man thats your opinion. someone who dumps his car thinks it does look good in their opinion. its all opinion there is no story behind it.

Its called personal style...people like it, its their car, they can do what they want with it. WHY, are your eyes shut to this? There are many things about other people that I ask myself "why, would they do that?", but I just let it be and think its their life/stuff. I suggest you do the same

Well I understand it's personal opinion yeah, but SO MANY people like it... I mean you almost can't win a car show if your car isn't slammed or 'tuckin' all 4's.. negative camber you can see... I still don't get it.
If some guy has flame stickers on his ride...great... but it's not widespread like the tuck is.
Oh and for this smart-***: <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Why don't you lift your "XClone the Fastest LHD Honda in Trindad (.. Trinidad?) and Tobago" and see how that looks?
Or why don't you try drag racing with the car 4" higher than stock?</TD></TR></TABLE>
That's actually a fad for larger cars. Don't know why they do that either, but it's not widespread. Did you just post to raise your count ?

Not really. For example, Mike G's urban green Civic took 1st place at Extreme showoff of SD a few years back, almost at stock height.
But as far as people that like that style, you'll see that alot at a car show or a meet, but not on a road course or somewhere that suspension is vital. Being really low probably draws some attention at a show, and if a person is trying to win, they want all the attention they can get.

I guess... but look at the guy you say won at almost stock height... I'm sure lots of ppl were surprised.
It's just that a nice, small fender gap looks so much better and much more finished that when the rubber is hiding.

Cause they are squishy, you can put things between them and they give you milk (when she preggy) :D

lowering the car lowers the center of gravity....a "tucked" tire means its really low, which means it looks like a race car. and if it looks like a race car, then it must be one, and thats just hella cool
