Does anyone else have this sound on their EP3? When I turn the wheel, I hear a small knocking/clicking sound. It doesn;t sound severe, but I thought I would run it in here before I tool it to my dealer to look at it.

 

does it do it while the car is stationary?

 

Has the car been lowered?

also could be the steering rack, common problem for the EP. do a search it has been discussed. the dealership may fix it under warranty.

 

The car is as stock as it comes (for now), and it does do it when stationary too. It's at the dealer right now getting looked at. Took it in for the free 40 point inspection and had them look into that as well.

 

I just got my car back from the dealer and they said the knocking sound is the struts. Does this make sense to anyone else? It's covered under warranty, so it's not coming out of my pocket, but still. I am pretty knowledgeable about cars, but the two just don't seem to coincide. Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

 

well did it happen when you slowed down to make a turn. this happend to my moms sentra and they said it was the brake drums. they said she was "too soft" on them. we both where like "huh?" the dealers never really tell you what it is so when it fuckes up again you have to take it back to them.

 

i dont think its the stuts, people usually hear a sound after the car is lowered, which yours isnt. Did they even drive the car to hear it or look at the steering rack? A lot of EP3 owners have had problems with the steering rack making noises like you described.

It is covered uner warranty. After talking to my friend about it, he said it may be the bushing turning while the wheel turns. If they change the struts and it still makes the noise, I wil have them look into the steering rack. Anyways, I will get new shocks with this whole deal.

 

IF the sound is still there just keep bringing it in til they fix it
