MotoGP @ Jerez
A repeat of last years season.
Rossi starts first on grid. Falls behind to second and or third. With 3 or less laps to go, passes Sete to take the win.
It is going to be another Rossi year on a Yamaha.
What a great race.....
And Hayden, had he not crashed (like always) he would have been on the podium. He was doing so good keeping up with Rossi for a few laps. I wonder what happened? He is going to have to work on that this season...more so than last season. I think his "testing the waters" season is over. C'mon Hayden...we want some results.
Can't wait for the next race...........(to be continued).

I was praying the whole race that Nicky would keep it together and not lose it, then it happened, he tucked the front. He really needed a good result to boost his confidence and he was doing a great job, running up with the leaders and at one point he had fastest lap. He did the same thing a few times last year, running really well and then just lost the front. I just hope he can pull it together. I have a feeling if he does not show show good results this year it may be his last with the Repsol team.
As for Jerez, I hope Sete's in good shape and can bring home a win.

I think it sucks that it wasn't a clean pass. it definitely shows Rossi's sheer determination and desire to win at all costs. I think that's an admirable trait but hopefully, it won't be at the cost of injuring someone or worse.
I'm sure Rossi didn't mean to push Sete off the track. When you're leaned over like that for the last turn in the race, I'm sure keeping your eyes on the road and your bike from crashing is what you're concerned about than what happend to the other rider.
thrilling race absolutely though! I get nervous and my heart pounds faster seeing action like that!

Indeed it was an exciting race. Sucks what happened to Gibernau but thats racing for ya. Gibernau also mentioned that he slowed down to check Rossi's pace, as some sort of strategy. I don't know about that one haha. Overall good race.

That to me shows that Rossi can pass at any given lap whenever he wants. Had he taken the lead early on he would have a lot of pressure by Sete to maintain the lead and the pace. Instead, (IMO) Rossi "let" Sete have and keep the lead and then just like that take the lead from him towards the end to win. The bump at the last turn,...part of racing. They say Rossi was out of control, maybe he was maybe he wasn't, but if he was, then so was Sete. I think Sete was going wide, and tried to save it and therefore leaned more right into Rossi. Luckily both riders didn't crash.
Over all, what a great race! Rossi is a cocky SOB though...gotta love that. Hahaha.

Here's a video of the pass at all different angles:

My take on it:
From looking at it over and over again, i really think that Rossi was planning to run it wide and was hoping to push Gibernau wide as well (not literally), then turn in hard and beat him to the finish. But Gibernau turned in anyway and hit Rossi. You can see how Gibernau's shoulder actually forces Rossi to release his front brake, and I'm sure it pushed the bars enough to force Rossi wider than he had wanted to go. From what I've seen before Gibernau should probably have slowed down and let Rossi run wide while he took the fast inside line and passed him. I don't really think it was anyone's fault. I think Gibernau could have protected the inside more and played the last turn wrong by trying to muscle it. I think Rossi's desperate pass paid off for him.

man, that race at the end had me hanging off the edge of my seat. It did suck that hayden went down, but sete and rossi omg... i give those guys so much credit, sete was pulling on rossi through out the 25 laps, then rossi closed in and took the lead like nothing. Sete Ran into Rossi, Rossi didnt hit sete. Rossi made the same mistake twice of taking a wide turn, and Sette would take the lead. Thats when Rossi said "Dammit Ima put my foot down and win this race"

Pretty much how I saw it also. Rossi beat him to the corner, all Sete had to do was let him run it ride then cut in behind him. I think all the times that Rossi has stuffed him finally got the better of Sete and he just decided to throw it in there so Rossi couldn't make the pass.
