Default JRSC in a 99 prelude OK?

Hey guys i have a 99 prelude 5spd completely stock with almost 100k mi. It was driven carefully by a lady who i was told keept it in good condition. I have removed the valve cover and the engine looks clean and compression numbers were okay. My question is do you think this car can handle a jrsc and if so what would i need other than the obvious...supercharger and clutch... Also what kind of reliability can i expect out of this setup? thanks in advance

You definately need the basic bolt-ons to get some of that stress off your engine that the supercharger will be putting on.

you dont "definately need" anything but a good tune with the JRSC. You can install the JRSC without any bolt ons. Its like saying you definately need a aftermarket intake before getting an exhaust system...

What do you even mean by "take some of that stress off your engine that the supercharger will be putting on." its not even relative to having bolt on's

So anyways, as long as you have good numbers with the compression test and a means of tuning after you install the kit, you'll be in the clear. You'll be making slightly (yea, only slightly) more power with I/H/E, its not like a turbo where changing the DP size will yield wild gains. So yea, in short, you can slap on a JRSC onto a stock lude, but make sure you have something to tune with.

And about the reliability thing.... its relatively reliable. The car will NEVER be as reliable as stock though, dont expect the kit to be maintainence free, I find myself under the hood a LOT more often because of the JRSC. You'll have to periodically inspect things like the belt, pullies, intake, things like that to make sure nothing is going to break when you decide to really have some fun with it. Search here and the FI board, you'll see that many JRSC owners have roughly about the same experience with the kit across different vehicles.

oh btw, JR's customer SUCKS.... dont plan on getting great help or anything for free if you lose something or if something breaks. They USED to be great (sending out parts that wear out or get damaged, free gaskets etc), but in the past couple of years, they've been nothing but suckage.

So do a search, you'll find a lot.... also a membership to preludeonline.com would be a good idea. If you're looking for more information, theres a "forced induction imports" section at http://www.hostboards.com, they have a VERY wide variety of forums there, but the FI forum deals mainly with superchargers and JRSCs, i found them very useful.
