Default replacing the oem 7th gen accord shift ****

im interested in getting another shift **** for my 7th gen accord, but there's one problem. the shift boot has a clip-like thing that snaps into the shift ****. i'm guessing that if i put another shift **** on that doesnt have the "female" part for the clip to snap into, the shift boot will just sag and look ugly. has anyone figured out a way to get around this? thanks in advance

update:

i took the shift boot off to look at how it was constructed, and it seems like this "clip" thing is only attached to the boot using a black wire tie. but if i take this off, im not sure that i can create a clean alternative. has anyone changed their 7th gen shift **** yet?
