Default STRIPPED HEADBOLT/ HEADSTUD Q&A?!

today i ran into problems while installing my cylinder head for my 89 CIVIC...
i over torque the damn headstuds... and not knowing that my torque wrench (click type) is faulty(long story: i set the damn to oem specs 49 lbs and all the sudden i heard crack! i knew i over torque it didnt heard the damn wrench click instead the damn bolt did)... the studs ate the thread from the block.. i did some research and did search come up wid TIME-SERTS (thread repair) instead going to the machine shop to have it repair >im cheap that way... heh anyways...
i am looking in the METRIC repair kit.... i know that B-series head stud repair kits are 11x1.5 & comes wid the 30mm inserts and D-series is 10x1.25... my QUESTION is: WHICH LENGTH OF CARBON STEEL INSERTS DO I GET? CHOICES ARE 14; 16.2;& 20 ... and anyone reading this that has done this before... (is this easy to do as they say?in their website?!) http://www.timesert.com

Go to pepboys, don't laugh lol, oh wait. No really though, they have a kit there that requires no drilling at all. I used it on a Chevy for one of the spark plug holes. It comes with a thread chaser tool, and some inserts. Worked good to, the kit will run you around 15 to 30 bucks.

Me and one of my buddies were finishing up his suspension one day and we were trying to get the upper control arm off and we were hitting the stud with a hammer(bad idea). Basically we couldnt get the the crown bolt on and we bought this kit from a parts shop down here called harbor freight....its a tap and die set it comes with re-threaders for bolt AND studs. It cost a mere 15 bucks and worked like a charm. try to find one of these and im sure you will be fine. You just have to plug and play basically with the bits.

Then this kit you posted will do just fine, you might have to pay a little more but it will hold. There is a big problem with new mustangs, the spark plug hole will strip right out and throw the spark plug threw the hood almost. So they use these time serts, or heli coils. They work, but if it ever happens again, you will more then likely need a new head.
