FREE TUNE-UP FROM HONDA DEALERS FOR SOME CIVICS!!!
its true.. my 96 lx 4 door had a problem from the factory for the emissions.. they made a deal with the epa stating that if your car falls under the correct vin numbers you will get a free tune-up!!! i think its only if your car has over 75,000 miles
im going for mine on monday..
plugs, wires, fuel filter, distributor cap, rotor, and oil change..
go to any honda dealer and go to the service department and give the service advisor your VIN# and tell him to run it for any warranty or recalls.. you just might get a free tune-up!!!
your welcome

its only for some civics not all of them.. mine has the y7 motor in it.. so i guess it would only be for y7's made in the same production time as mine was.. maybe its for more then just y7's go to the dealer and find out...
its because of some deal HONDA made with the EPA.. this is what the guy at the honda dealer told me.

40 point inspection and a free TUNE-UP because of an emissions defect in the manufacturing of some civics is not the same thing.
40 point inspection is cool to but a free tune-up is better!

All 96-97 Honda/Acura makes have this (except SLX and Passport) above 75K miles and below 150K. If your check engine light comes and it's caused by an emissions controlled device it'll be covered under the warranty extension up to 150K miles.

yeah, we did one today, basically you get a free cap/rotor/spark plugs and wires on 96 and 97 civics.
the government thought that the odb2 system wasnt good enough, thought honda was trying to keep customers from comming in and getting warrenty work, so they made honda extend the warrenty's for 10 years or 150k on 96 and 97 civics only, so if your car hasnt gotten the "mini-tune-up" its free

No, just 96-97 Honda & Acuras (excluding Passport). The ODB-2 system (first implemented in 1996) was faulty in the eyes of the EPA so Honda is required to fix it.
From what I recall Honda will perform whatever work is necessary to make the car pass emissions through the extended warranty period (10 years, 150K miles). This free tuneup thing is news to me.
I very much doubt if you have to be the original owner, same as with any other kind of recall.

For all of you asking if your car falls under the category to recieve the free tune-up, READ THIS. It's called READING a thread.
