Low temperature Thermostat & Thermoswitch - your views !
What do you guys think about using a low temp thermostat and/or thermoswitch with an all-motor application ?
They say they help to reduce engine temperature by activating the coolant/fan at lower temperatures. This should help to save the engine, minimize possible detonation and help engine performance.
Has anyone tried it?
Does it work?
Is so, which one to get - Spoon, Mugen, JR (Jackson Racing) ?
Thanks

Max power is usually at low water temps (160-180) and high oil temps (250-270).For low emissions the factorys run higher water temps, and for reliability lower oil temps.

For a street motor I would say this is a bad idea. With the life of a daily driver I see it most likely contributing to engine wear. I'm going to go with Honda's preference on operating temperature unless heavily modified. my .02
