Default How to open hood without using latch?

Friend is locked out of his car over here and he's to the point of breaking the window... He has shaved doors and his battery is dead. We've tired figuring out how to unlatch the hood without getting inside but can't? Is it possible? It's a 2000 Lude

Nah, we took off the front bumper to look at the lock plate, but can't seem to find where the wire ends so that we can pull it and pop it up.. but No, we're breaking into a car...We tired the lock smith but the balloon didn't jar the door enough to help anything and he was going to make him sign a waiver saying if it messes anything up he's not lible but we decided to try here... but whatever.. thanks anyways.

Yeah, we're breaking into the car... we're going cut the engine block out then procede to cut thru the shell and squrim into the car thru the hole ...

Just trying to pop hood to charge battery so doors can be opened.

if you have small enough hands, just find the latch cable and pull on it or get a flat head screw driver and pry the window far enough to get your hand or a hanger to get the lock button

We can't remove the second plate and the latch wire doesn't seem to do much when pulled (before it enters the 2nd plate) I looked on my is300 and the latch wire with plastic coating ends and just starts as wire and you need to pull that to actually get any movement.. you cant just pull the whole plastic enclose wire.. (If that makes sense) .. we can't find the actually wire without the plastic coating to pull.. and as far as unlocking the doors, it wont matter.. the doors are shaved...

As a side note, My friend has a Red 1994 VR-4 for sale.. if your intrested xthephilx

My dad has a slim jim. The doors aren't locked, they can't be locked. But since the battery is dead, there's no juice to open doors and he has no back up switch cause he's cheap.

Damn, that really sucks.
If it's in gear, try push it around a bunch to try to get the motor to turn and charge the alternator You can try to take the rear brake calipers off before pushing it around so you don't wear your rear brakes down.

Other than that, I have no idea.

About the VR-4...i'm done with red cars. I get too much attention in my red prelude. A red 3s would make every cop in the tri-state area follow me.

Wrong, stupid. Would you want to break the window on your car? You'd have to pay for the window yourself. You'd probably want to try every other option possible.

EDIT: You could try to get at the battery through the dust shield on the passenger's side. Take the wheel off, remove the dust shield and see if you can reach it. Not sure how the hood of the 5gen is designed though, so that might not be possible.

Try jacking the car, and get to the battery cables from below to hook up a charger or either a portable battery, i think it would work. Plus, u can actually hook the wires up much lower since they have huge wires.

Its possible to open the hood from the front. A friend of mine has done it to my car just to prove me wrong awhile back. I told him its not possible, but he proved me wrong and poped it open

why don't you just break into the trunk and pull the seat fold down cable in the trunk.

The idea is to get in without messing his car up...
