Today was the first warm day ive driven my car very far and my oil pressure seemed a little lower than usual. After warming up and coming to a stop sign my oil pressure would drop to 10 psi and was about 40psi in 5th gear at 3k rpm's...does this sound normal to everybody?Once in a while it would go just below the 10 psi mark. Is this a problem or is it normal?im running 10w-30 durablend oil if that matters and only has about 1000 miles on it

also, i recently just changed my rear main seal...could that be the culprit?
not normal, 10psi is too low for idle. rear main seal doesnt have anything to do with oil pressure. did you check your oil?

wrong
All Honda B, D H, etc have and ask for 10 psi of oil pressure at idle and 50psi at 3k rpms
check the helms, ALL DATA, Mitchell1, workshop manuals, haynes, etc etc all say the same

so what should i do?im thinkin about changing to 15-40 tomorow, should i or am i probably okay?
ur fine
like i said
all sources say
10psi @ idle
50psi @ 3000 rpm
if it drops less than 10 psi at idle, when fully warmed., then go to a heavier oil

I still think 10psi is way too low. Mine idles around 20-25psi and when driving on the freeway its around 75psi when I acc.

depends on what size line is hooked up to it also , like a run a -3 to my gauge and it reads around 10psi at 600-800 rpms , but like 60 psi around 4000, what size line you got on it ????

its a brand new gauge, ive used it for probably 1000 miles....it was working great, then today it started to act up. Im gonna check for leaks in the morning(i didnt find any today) and then probably try some heavier oil and see if that fixes the prob. how could i test the gauge to see if its correct besides trying a different one?

with oil pressure this low, will any problems arise and what?also, this is a turbo z6 if that matters. I've heard the turbo takes about 10 psi
10psi in a honda is too low no matter what the friggin manuals say. there is a problem somewhere. what is your oil pressure at cold start-up
all the sources give that spec for a stock engine. a boosted engine will need more pressure to live.

whatever man
on cold start up hes going to have plenty oil pressure
too much as matter of fact
this is at fully warm... we talking

Mine would idle between 10-12psi after being driven for about 15 minutes. 10 psi is normal. Once the motor and oil is warmed up you'll read lower pressures. You're supposed to. Anything I ever read about oil pressure said the same thing. When you start your car up in the morning you'll get 50-60 psi at idle. NORMAL. But once everything gets warmed up that pressure will drop down to about 10-14. The guy's motor is fine. His oil pressures are fine.
Somebody go ahead and find a credible source that says otherwise.

just got my oil changed to 15-40 rotella and when the car got warmed up the oil pressure slowly fluctuated from 15 to 17 to 20 and then back down. While driving, the oil pressure got up to 80 when i was around 3k. problem solved?any ideas what the problem could have been?also, my rear main that i just replaced is leaking

Everybody that got their info from good sources (Helms, mitchel, etc..) telling you that 10 psi was pretty much normal wasn't good enough, eh?
I may be wrong in this case but 15-40 is not exactly recommended to be ran in our engines. But hey, whatever floats your boat. That 80 psi at 3K is wayyyy too high.

ive heard high oil pressure hurts nothin and also doesnt help anything.
Did you use teflon tape on the gauge? I've had problems with the tape breaking off and clogging the sender hole before...
