Default Rough Idle

My car is going in to the shop (my local HONDA dealer) for the ignition switch recall, When I start up my car Hot or cold the idle is rough today It started shaking the higher my rpm's got. It seems that it is worse on hot days. If the mechanic cant replicate the problem is there something I can have him do that might help with this. Its going to the shop anyways I wanna get this fixed? Its a 99 accord ex about 90,000 miles on it

I have the same problem, but Honda told me "it's normal." Other people say it's a broken motor mount, maybe a leak in the exhaust manifold, maybe fuel injectors, timing, and other things.

okay let's break it down

the rough idle you mention could be...

-air in the cooling system(no motor vilbration but surging rpm needle)

-low tranny fuild/motor fuild(easy check)

-bad motor mount(big vibration when you let go the gas panel right after rev, pop the hood and have some standing next to motor, shift your car from P to R and see if there's movement, you could see the motor "jump" if your mount are torn)

-blow headgasket(lossing compression, etc)

-water damaged motor(have your car been in the rain with a cold air intake sucking in water? again, easy spot if you do the compession test)
