Hi guys, I read something about using zip ties to connect the shifter cables together to make it feel more positive, but I'm not sure how to go abouts doing it?
where abouts do i zip tie them?
and how close together do i need to do it?
I've already changed the big bushing type things, so i just wanna know how to do this mod..
Thanks for the help!!

I dont know about zip tieing, but I know if you remove the 4 rubber bushings under the shift assembly it is supposed to feel much better shifting.

Prelude FSM has it. I'm sure you can find it online too.

remove 13.14 and 16 from the diagram... and replace with a shorter bolt and washer.. it feels great.
I did this today and only just went for a drive and feels so positive! do it.!!!
Very easy to do too!

A lot of the hybrids, you either run the shift linkage through the firewall, or under the car and back up. If you run it under the car, you can zip tie the together.

you can get those from.. http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com
it's great for looking at assemblies and comparing part #'s.

Draining your transmission fluid is probably one of the worst ideas I have ever heard in my life. The length of time that your parts will manage that abuse will be minimal. I cut a slice in a 1/4'' washer then cramped it onto the clutch cable of a saab to remove some slopbut im not sure about the effectiveness of this method in your project.
Dunno about the zip-tie thing, but I just did the bushing replacement, and this is what I used (think it might be a slight improvement to just washer/bolt)
4 - nylon washers 1.75 O.D., .310 I.D., and .125 thick @ .63 ea.
---these go below the plate to space it up and relieve metal/metal rub
8 - metric 8 regular washers---two per mount to space the upper and lower washers and keep the bolt centered @ .16 ea.
4 - 5/16"x 1-1/4"O.D. fender washers---to fit on top under the bolt head @ .16 ea.
4 - M8x25mm w/ 1.25 pitch @ 1.06 ea.
Much better stiffness in shifts and thats just street driving, havent even gotten on it and been able to rip through the gears, all for $5.70

Yeah, I really don't understand what possible benefit zip-tieing shift cables together would provide . . . In a stock car it's not like they're flopping around & need to be secured somehow. In a swap, sure . . . .
really bet you read a b-series or some other page for linkage shifters.....they would benefit from this because it would be harder to move the shifter with the linkages ziptied....
either way it sounds stupid.....

some people on this board completely amaze me lately.
when people say zip tie the shift linkage here is what you do.
get a bag of zip ties.
jack the car up
remove nuts holding heat shield up. see those two black cables? take a zip tie, and put it around them, holding them closer together.
tighten the zip tie.
cut the excess tail off.
do that about every 4" all the way from the chassis to the engine bay where the shift cables connect to the top of the tranny.
this holds the shift cables more so they don't flex as much. thus resulting in a tighter more precise shift.
then replace the heat shield
lower the car
test drive

on the 5th gen at least there is a heat shield that covers the cat, its attached to the chassis. its right behind the steering rack.

Very well said! I noticed a difference when I zipped tied mine a long time ago.
