D series high comp mini me.. will it work or will it just go boom??!?
so having access to some parts.... i did some number "Crunchin" with the help of a d series compression calculator....
what do you people think about this.. will it run on pump gas? will it have valve clearance?
z6 head on an a6 block with ZC rods and pistons and an a6 head gasket.. the compression in theory works out to be 12.3:1 ... my question is with the ZC rods and pistons will piston to deck height be the same as with stock pistons.. i assume not since the dome on the zc pistons raises the comperssion by.. making the piston extend more upward.. anyway
will i have valve clearance with this?? and if so.. would i have room to run a cam with maybe more agressive Vtec lobes? and if so.. whats the more agressive OEM cam for a sohc vtec?? z6 or y8??
thanks in advance everyone!

the will come almost flush with the deck. Im me if you want to see a picture.
my set up is zc pistons in z6 block z6 head
I will tell you this. my zex 59300 cleared no problem but there are many factors there to consider when building the motor. you need to clay it when doing assembly. I currently have a crower stg 3 cam that i need to clay up. but ive also added 20 thou clerance by having another valve job done on the head too. So basically, I can tell you that there is room there, but you NEED to clay it since those pistons were not made for that head. The valve locations are different.

yah you can do it, and there seems to be decent piston to valve clearance with the P29 pistons. whether you will be able to get it to run real good on pump gas depends whether you have access to and how it is tuned. builthatch and agentjam both have experience with the P29's. check out http://www.d-series.org for more P29 info.
you know if you wnat to make it a little stronger, you can take some LS rods(yes LS rods) to a machine shop have them mill them a little and they will work on a d series block. I'm not sure on how much it costs, but it can be done.
