Default 1997 Accord EX 4-cyl timing belt woes

Hi,

First I want to say....Awesome Forum!

Now, here's my dilemma.

Against my better judgment, I had the timing belt/water pump replaced by a
'friend of a friend'. Now, the engine seems to be a bit down on power and
it's got a pretty noticeable vibration at speed.

I know...I already feel stupid...

I took it back to the 'friend of a friend' and he rechecked to see if
everything was lined up. And..lo and behold...he says all is normal. UGH!

While I'd like to administer a baseball bat to his cranium, I know that
it's ultimately not worth it. So....

Am I totally screwed? Anyone know any good shops in Northern NJ that can do this at a price I can live with (since I've already spent a dencent amount of $ on this)?

Thanks in advance!

Jim

sounds to me like he has the cam timing off and the balancer shafts alignment off as well have someone that knows what he is doing take a look at it

if the balance shaft belt is off 1 tooth it with shake..... and if the cam timing is off 1 tooth (about 12 deg.) you will expirience a drivability problem, laggy/lack of power and maybe even spark knock if it is advanced
