Help me diagnose.... '91 EF Si
Hey guys, hoping for some help to solve my problem... I have a '91 Si with 205k miles. (my beater), it's stock. Occasionally, my car won't start. Normally it starts pretty well, but every once in awhile it will ust crank and crank and not start. It has penty of voltage, and when this happens there is still spark at all 4 cylinders. It usually requires waiting 3-5 minutes, and then all of a sudden it will start again. Anyone else experience anything similar? Do you think it is the fuel pump? I can't really hear it spool when i turn on the ignition, but i've never been able to notice it anyway.
TIA

Sounds like the main relay to me. When my 91 civic would sit in the sun for awhile at work, I would come out at lunchtime to go out and it wouldn't start. I eventually found out that it was the main relay. Just a thought.
Yes, it seems when it heats up, it does it a little more. Although I don't have a whole lot of evidence, I had a feeling it was temperature related. Where is the realy?
yup, i'm with 91civic... relay is located under drivers dash, far left side... turn the key on and off and follow the click, its about a bit smaller than a pack of smokes... you can either replace it or check the solder joints if youre handy with a gun...

Try turning the key on to right before the start, and check to make sure that the injectors are putting fuel in the cylinder. It should be puting fuel in for about 2 seconds, and you will be able to hear the fuel in the lines feeding the fuel. If this doesn't happen then it should most likely be your main relay. Do you get any codes?
