So I went out riding for the first time yesterday, so much fun until i laid her down. Wasn't going fast, just turned to sharp and she went down.
So much for the brand new paint job.
I need a lot more practice but it was so much fun can't wait to go out again today.
Hopefully I can keep the rubber down for a little awhile longer next time out. Just thought I'd share how much of an *** I am, didn't get hurt, but definately bruised my ego.
flame away....... .. .

I got my cbr a little over a week ago, you should have started out in a parking lot, just getting a feel for the lean and what not. I found that riding on real roads comes with more "stress" b/c of the fact that its not just what you do, but what the other people on the road do. Until you really get a hang for riding take corners extra slow WATCH OUT FOR SAND!!! Good Luck!!!

That's what we did after I laid it down. Definately should of started there, but ohh well, can't go back.

wow that didnt take long. did you hit some gravel or something? were you braking thru the corner? glad to hear youre ok.
I don't understand how you can turn to sharp and lay the bike down. You need to explain in a little more detail what happened so we can tell you how to correct your mistakes.
In some ways I'm glad I had to wait a month to get my bike titled/registered. I was forced to stay in the neighborhood during that month and (re)learn the basics.

Thank goodness your ok. What I did before taking the bike out on the street to get the feel of the bike is going to an empty parking lot and practice turns and weaving. Eventually you'll be better if you practice.

Live up here in Flagstaff lots of cinders in our cul de sac, turned, slid on cinders, fell down. I wish I would of started out in a open parking lot, don't think I would of fallen so soon if I would of been in an open area. But hey it's all part of learning, definately a good learning experience.
Learn something new every day... is this right?
sco·ri·a ( P ) Pronunciation Key (skôr-, skr-)
n. pl. sco·ri·ae (skôr-, skr-)
Geology. Porous cinderlike fragments of dark lava. Also called cinders, slag

Yo homie, no worries man, I was averaging a highside and a lowside every two weeks for two months....definitely hurt the ego, but damn does it make you want to master it even more. Take it to the track...much safer.

They put them down when it snows, and when you live in a cul de sac the street sweeper doesn't make his way up my street so we have cinders year round.

You only learn from your mistakes, got any pics of your bike? I was considering buying an F2 and painting it.

Nevermind, just saw your other thread with pictures. Is that original pics or after the paint job? Bump for 5,000 miles

It was the way I bought it, the guy just put a new paint job on it before I bought it. I'll try and get some pics up to show the damage.
I did some more riding today, getting a little better, didn't crash!

Wow if you set it down already I would seriously suggest the msf course. Most community colleges have it and if you can't find it in Flag they have them all the time down here. Sorry to hear that you laid it down already.
