Default Is it possible to make the 4ws not 4ws anymore?

Hi guys..

Basically my 4ws hasnt been working for like 2 years! I've had the 4ws computer out and the fuse out already for 2 years. It handles good but i'm sure it would handle better if i could make it a true 2ws. The only thing is i'm having trouble finding the rear crossmember from a 2ws lude.

So i was thinking if there are anyways of making the rear wheels solid? i.e. maybe replacing the spring in the actuator with something solid?

Thanks for the help!

They make that kind of stuff for the 240sx; but I've never seen anything for the Prelude. The dealer uses a locking pin to perform alignments, but I would fear that it wouldn't hold while driving. I always imagined welding all that **** together.

You are lucky. Atleast your rear wheels are locking when the 4WS is not working. Mine move around when the system isn't working.

Your car will not handle any better if you convert it to "2WS". You car is behaving exactly like a 2WS car.

Here is a fix that might work for you. It fixed mine. I need to do this fix again.

yeah i know they use a locking pin when doing 4ws allignments but heard it isn't advisable to use whilst driving... Yeah i was thinking if you could possibly weld the spring in the actuator so it's on solid piece.. maybe it isn't as easy as that?

You could get 2WS rear control arms and swap them onto your car.

this can be done, to do it you'll need:

A Rear SubFrame (crossmember, whatever you want to call it)

Lower Control Arm B (in place of the tie rods), remove the wiring, 4ws ECU, pull the dash light - get alignment and you're done.
