Combining F4 and F4i parts?

Combining F4 and F4i parts?
Is there any difference between an F4 upper crankcase and an F4i upper crankcase? I have some old F4 upper cases an F4i lower case that I would like to build into a backup motor. Does anyone know if this works, for sure? Has anyone done this? Thanks a lot!
