Ok, im driving behind my friend, and im just cruising at like 70, and then i lose all power... i hit the gas, and nothing happens, almost as if the accelerator cable was not attached. my rpms start dropping, obviously, so i pull over to the side of the road. the oil light and the battery light have come on by now, and the only code im flashing is a 2 for o2 sensor. i turn her off, and try to crank her back up, hoping all will be well (things like this have happend before, and after turning her off, and then back on, shes been fine). well, she cranks, but she'll only sputter and not turn over. i pretty sure i smelled fuel, and i shut my fuel pump off, and she would only crank- when i turned it back on, and she would sputter a little. after cranking her for a while, it starts to make like a metal on metal noise, like theres no oil, or maybe a pinging (maybe like detonation?)... anyway, now my cars on the side of I-97, and i need some help guys. i think it might have something to do with the distributer, but i really dont know. PLEASE HELP ME!

 

Hey bro...your distributor rotor wobbled off.

It's a very common problem.

Take off your distributor cap and you should see your rotor kind of dangling. Put the screw back in and get it really tight.

When they come off it usually enlarges the hole on the rotor shaft, so it's best to get a new one. They're only a few dollars.

And then use Loctite (or any threadlocker) on the new screw that comes with the rotor and you shouldn't have this problem ever again
