O2 Sensor Code 2
Well this is my first post on here. I have read through several pages of info and you guys seem to know quite a bit about hondas. I recently did a B16A motor swap in my 1991 Honda Civic EX 4 Door (power doors/locks
)
When I hotrod my car for a bit my CEL comes on. I checked the computer and it blinks twice. I researched and found out that it the (O2 sensor "B" defective circuit or unplugged)
So I checked under the hood and I noticed that the guy who did the swap didnt even hook up the secondary sensor! I was glad he at least hooked up the primary. So I ran a wire from the seconday sensor (closet to passenger side) and ran it to my computer to ECU slot C8.
I took it for a test drive and once again the CEL came on and threw the same code. So I decided that it must be a bad sensor. I went to Autozone today and bought 2 sensors and I removed the secondary sensor but could not removed the primary. (ANYONE KNOW HOW TO REMOVE THE PRIMARY)
So I just replaced the secondary one with a Bosch O2 sensor and ran the wire to C8 again. It seemed to run a little better and the exhaust didnt sound like a tin can rattling like it did before BUT it still threw the code 2.
My question is what else can it be? The only thing I can think of is it is a bad cat? I have been slaving over this and searching google for this and pulled several diagrams and pictures and after all that I still cant figure this out. I am tempted to bring it to a mechanic and get charged a ridiculous price to fix it.
Can you guys please shed some light on this.
Thanks,
Newbie Honda Guy

one thing..dont buy bosche o2 sensors. second, you should have reset your ecu after you hooked up the second o2 sensors to clear the code or else it will keep popping up. if you dont know how to do that you can either disconnect your battery (will have to reset cdplayer and clock settings) or take out the hazard fuse (under the hood fusebox) for about 15 seconds. ur o2 sensors are most likely still good so keep them. u need a o2 sensor socket to get them out, because of the wire and their length. i got one off ebay for under 10 bucks and will prevent you from rounding off the edges using a adjustable wrench.
Oops sorry I forgot to mention that I did reset the ecu after I got done. And I went to Autozone and rented the O2 sensor socket to remove the O2 but I cant get it to fit on the primary because the block and the heat shield on the under side of the manifold is in the way.
My hands are all fucked up right now from messing with it.
Do you think it could be that I dont have a fuse where my hazard lights go due to when I have it in my damn seat belt beeps.?

Nope I took it out because my seat belt beeps and it wont quit.
The weird thing is that it seemed to run a lot better tonight. I even raced a two door acura integra with exhaust (dont know if he had any other mods) and beat him by like 3 car lengths. He got pissed and turned off real quick. LOL Well as long as it keeps running like this I can live with the CEL on all the time.

my cel was coming on too....i changed the primary o2 sensor and it went away, everything worked better..i was going through the same stuff you were mentioning too!!
mm im not sure but i think when ur cel light is on for o2 sensor it puts your car in limp mode. what do u mean ur seatbelt makes noise? does the light just flash or does it actually make a noise. maybe u should just disconnect the sensor underneath? id put the hazard fuse back in, i doubt that could be good not having it.

you must have a 4-2-1 header, with both o2 sensors functioning properly and plugged into the proper pins on the ecu.
You CANNOT mix the wires up at the ecu.
