R6 vs F4i
well i always found it better to start looking early for a good deal, rather than be pressed by time. I will probably sell my 94 F2 in the future if all goes well. I will be looking for a newer bike hopefully.
needs:
• fuel injected
• min. 600cc (i have 1 year exp. and don't see a need for a bigger bike)
• $3,500-$4,000 range
I have been eyeing the F4i and R6. I have not sat on either bike, but i rode my buddies 636 and it was too "sporty" of a posture for me. I know hondas are reliable, but I hear a lot of good things about the R6 also.
so i guess let the comments fly. have I over looked another bike? (i do like how the R6 and F4i look) coming from the F2 I don't think i would be dissapointed with either, but i thought I would listen to what you guys have to say.

F4i
R6 has the same sort of "Sporty" riding position....
basically the R6 is equal to the 600RR as far as riding position (they are both different but for comparisson reasons i used that)

f4is' are going to be a little heavier, but also a little more stable, and ive heard the frames are built like tanks on those things.
i vote f4i just b/c i see too many r6s and the f4i w/ a cowl is too pretty not to be in my...ergh...your garage

Yeah R6s didn't come FI till 02 or 03 and those go for upwards of $5000. Around here '01 F4is are still going for around $5000, but that's FL. The riding position is defnitely a bit more comfortable on an F4i, but the seat is like a rock compared to an R6.
yeah i have heard about the "plank" and would look into a corbin seat for it.
that is one thing the F2 had going for it, it is comfortable if nothing else. I was afraid the R6 might be too "sporty" of a posture for me.
so i guess I will have to start looking for a good deal on a f4i. how many miles should i expect on an '01 and have it cost 3,500 - 4000?

if you plan to keep the f4i stock, the f4i is much more comfortable. but, if you plan to raise the f4i rear, and mod its suspension, it becomes very similar to a 600rr.
in other words, the f4i is a more stable bike stock over the r6. but if moded, the f4i may become as sporty as a r6. my moded f4i feels much sharper thn my friends 04 r6.
if you like a bike that feels stable at lean angles get the f4i. if you like the flickable feel, get the r6.
i hope this make sense... i'm a little drunk at the moment.

no, it makers sense to me. the 636 i rode was VERY light comapred to my F2 and where as it would be flickable, it seemed to get squirrely over bumps and stuff, where as the f2's weight keeps it "grounded more"
I dont really mind the "plank" f4i seat. I've riden a few hours at a shot, and its not
that terrible. Its not really waht i would call comfortable, but it never gets to the point where its painful.

i love it when everyone complains about the seats on supersport bikes; it's uncomfortable for a reason!!! on my 600rr, i rarely sit on the seat while really "riding" it; i hover and switch back and forth. the "plank" like seat helps me slide right across rather than getting stuck on it. if there is this big old squishy seat to welcome your ***; it is not helping you while throwing the bike back and forth in the canyons/mountains/[insert any fun road here].
Depends on usage. I visit my father in Grants Pass, Oregon every year, and I ride up from Los Angeles on my bike. A seat becomes a VERY big deal after 700 miles and 13 hours of straight through driving.
If I was just diddling around town, it wouldn't be as big a deal.

I had a 99 f4.... just sold to a buddy for 3500 and bought a 02 r6.. r6 is a fun bike for goofing off... much lighter feeling than the f4 or the f4i..

Haha! You have the same bike as me! Same color and year. Ya, the R6 feels really light. I love it. However, the '02s aren't fuel injected. I'd get the '02 R6 over the F4i. My 0.02
