The History of Championship White

History Lesson:

The Honda RA272 was driven by American F1 driver Richie Ginther during the 1965 World Championship.

The RA272 gave Ginther trouble at the beginning of the season (DNF at Monoco, France, and Great Britain) but at Mexico, the last GP of the season, Ginther gave Honda their first win in Formula One. The win was also Ginther's first and only victory - he ended the 1965 season in 7th place (behind Jimmy Clark, Graham Hill, Jackie Stewart, Dan Gurney, John Surtees, and Lorenzo Bandini)

Ginther's RA272 was painted a white color, which is very similar to the Championship White used on the Type R today. The Championship White color on the Type R is a tribute to this first F1 win.

As I recall, that motor was an inline 12, made up of 3 -4 cylinder motors.

Did some of you really not know this? I am quite surprised. I thought it was common knowledge among Honda enthusiasts.

Well Flux, I guess thanks for posting this thread if there are masses out there that were unknowing, this is why I say NH-0 is the only color deserving of wearing an R badge.

I'm just joking, or am I? hahaha
